Manchester United have a three man shortlist of centre-forward alternatives, should the club be unable to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.
Kane is the club’s leading transfer target ahead of the summer as Erik ten Hag looks to sign a proven goalscorer.
The England captain has scored 25 league goals for a Spurs side who have struggled this season and is understood to be considering his options as he enters the final 12 months of his deal in north London.
United are aware any deal for the 29-year-old will cost in the region of £100m, while the Red Devils are cautious about being dragged into protracted negotiations with Daniel Levy. Spurs are reluctant to sell Kane to a Premier League rival and United have compiled a shortlist of alternatives should Levy take a ‘hardball’ stance in negotiations.
FourFourTwo are reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani is considered the club’s Plan B option. The 24-year-old has been in spectacular form since signing for Frankfurt from Nantes on a free transfer last summer and leads the Bundesliga for goal involvements with 13 goals and 10 assists.
His performances earned the forward a France debut last year and he has since won seven caps, forming part of the squad that reached the World Cup final in Qatar.
United’s alternative options include Roma’s Tammy Abraham and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. Abraham scored 27 goals in all competitions during an impressive debut season at Roma in 2021/22, but has struggled to replicate that form this time around. The former Chelsea forward is believed to be keen on a return to the Premier League and Aston Villa have also been linked.
Martinez is also said to be under consideration after a prolific period at Inter Milan. The Argentina international has scored 75 goals in 167 league appearances for the Nerazzurri and is valued at around €80m (£70m).
