Ajax have placed a €50m valuation on Jurrien Timber ahead of expected interest from Premier League clubs this summer.
Timber was a transfer target for Manchester United last summer and Ajax are again anticipating approaches for the 21-year-old from top clubs at the end of the season.
The defender turned down a move to the Premier League in favour of remaining at Ajax during last summer’s transfer window, amid fears a move could have jeopardised his place in the Netherlands squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
Erik ten Hag had been keen to reunite with a player he coached at Ajax and could renew his interest in Timber, amid doubts over the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at Old Trafford.
Sky Germany are reporting that Timber is now keen to leave Ajax to sign for a ‘top club’, though the Dutch side are reluctant to lose the academy product and value the defender at around €50m (£44m).

Liverpool have also been linked with a move to sign Timber as the Reds prepare for a rebuild under Jurgen Klopp. The Dutchman has featured predominantly as a central defender for Ajax this season but is also capable of covering at right-back.
Liverpool are also understood to have monitored the progress of Timber’s Ajax teammate, Devyne Rensch, but could face competition from Arsenal and Brighton.
