West Ham rule out player-plus-cash deals for Declan Rice

West Ham have ruled out accepting any player-plus-cash proposals for captain Declan Rice this summer.

Rice is set to be subject of interest from the Premier League’s top teams after turning down a new contract at the London Stadium, with the expectation that the England midfielder will leave West Ham during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have made the 24-year-old their leading transfer target, while Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle have each been credited with past interest.

David Moyes said earlier this season that it will require a British transfer record fee to sign Rice and Football Insider are reporting that the Hammers have ruled out accepting any players in exchange as clubs look to reduce that fee.

It has been suggested that Arsenal could look to offer a first-team name as part of a potential deal, but West Ham have extensively scouted their own Rice replacements and are ‘not interested’ in exchange deals.

Top of the club’s list of transfer targets is believed to be Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow. The Swizterland international will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Frankfurt this summer and was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier in the campaign.
