Chelsea, Spurs and Man United ‘watching’ Gent striker

Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are among the clubs ‘watching’ Gent striker Gift Orban ahead of a potential summer move.

Orban has made an immediate impact since signing for Gent in January and has scored 19 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

The 20-year-old has averaged a goal every 75 minutes since signing for the Belgian side in the winter window, having ended last season as the Norwegian First Division’s top scorer at former club Stabæk.

The Nigerian’s return for Gent includes a record-breaking hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa Conference League’s last 16, in which Orban scored three times in just three minutes and 25 seconds to set a new record for the fastest hat-trick scored in UEFA club competition.

Orban’s performances have alerted clubs across Europe and the Evening Standard are reporting that Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United head the Premier League interest. Each have sent scouts to watch the forward in action, while Fulham are also interested in a deal.

Gent are under no pressure to sell, however, and it will take a large fee for the club to sell this summer. Orban signed a long-term contract when arriving in the January window and is contracted until 2027.
