Juventus are leading the race to sign Christian Pulisic from Chelsea as the winger prepares for an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic is expected to leave Chelsea this summer after struggling for form and favour this season, with the USA international set to lead an exodus of players after the west London club’s lowest league finish since 1993/94.
Manchester United and Newcastle have been credited with interest in the 24-year-old, but ESPN are reporting that Juventus are in pole position to secure a deal. The Turin side are keen on a cut-price deal for Pulisic, who could be available for as little as £20m given his contract expires in 2024.
Pulisic signed for Chelsea in a £58m deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, but has struggled to turn talent into consistent performances in the Premier League.
Juventus hope to beat interest from the Premier League, AC Milan, Napoli and Galatasaray to his signature, despite a reluctance to match Pulisic’s Chelsea contract and the absence of Champions League football for next season.
Pulisic is viewed as a replacement for Angel Di Maria and Juan Cuadrado, who are both out of contract this summer and set to leave the Allianz Stadium.
Chelsea have named Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s head coach for next season, but the new manager is not expected to prevent Pulisic’s exit.
