Postecoglou coy on future amid Spurs speculation

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has remained coy on his future amid speculation that Tottenham are preparing an approach for his services.

Postecoglou is understood to be a leading candidate to become Spurs’ next head coach, with the Australian having impressed across two seasons at Celtic.

The 57-year-old has won five trophies since moving to Scottish football and led Celtic to a domestic treble this season, after securing a 3-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

Postecoglou is on a 12-month rolling contract at Celtic and the club have been linked with offering him a new long-term deal. He was asked about his future following Celtic’s Scottish Cup final win, but refused to discuss the speculation surrounding a potential move to the Premier League.

“I understand all that (the questions), but I am going to be a little bit selfish here, not just for myself but my family and people around me, we have all worked really hard to enjoy this moment,” he said to BBC Scotland on his Celtic future.

“As disappointing as that may be for people, that is what I am going to do. We have worked too hard as players and managers.

“If I again start talking about things right now that aren’t really important to me and those people around me, so I am just enjoying this and will do for as long as I can before people drag me away to talk about other things.”
