Real Madrid ‘hold talks’ over signing Harry Kane

Real Madrid have held talks over the prospect of signing Harry Kane this summer with Carlo Ancelotti having requested the signing of the Tottenham forward.

Kane is on the club’s shortlist of potential signings this summer as the Spanish side rebuild after a disappointing campaign.

Real Madrid are currently awaiting clarity on the future of Karim Benzema, who has received a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabia and is considering leaving the Bernabeu.

According to The Athletic, Ancelotti has told the club’s board he wants to sign Kane as a replacement for Benzema at a ‘key meeting’ with the club’s hierarchy.

Kane will enter the final season of his contract at Spurs this summer and has been linked with an exit from north London, with Manchester United keen on a deal for the England captain.

Spurs have ‘no desire’ to sell the 29-year-old, but run the risk of losing the forward on a free transfer if Kane refuses to sign a contract extension.

The north Londoners are understood to value Kane at around £100m and could be more open to selling the forward to a foreign side if Real Madrid firm up their interest with a formal approach.

Kane scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season and became Spurs and England’s all-time record goalscorer earlier in the campaign. He is understood to be considering his future, following a disappointing season that saw Spurs miss out on European qualification.
