Liverpool ‘schedule talks’ with Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram

Liverpool have ‘scheduled talks’ with the representatives of Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram as the club continue their pursuit of midfield additions.

Liverpool completed their first signing of the summer transfer window after finalising a deal for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister on Thursday and the Reds are keen to continue their rebuild with further midfield additions.

Kone and Thuram have emerged as leading targets for Jurgen Klopp’s recruitment team, as Liverpool look to add dynamism to their engine room.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool have scheduled talks with the representatives of the duo, who are set to represent France’s u21 side at this summer’s European Championship.

Thuram – the son of former Juventus defender Lilian – has impressed across four seasons at Nice and the 21-year-old was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for 2022/23. He made his senior debut for France during March’s international break.

Kone is also on the verge of the France set-up and has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s brightest young midfielders at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Despite primarily being defensive-minded, Kone ranks in the 96th percentile of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons and the 22-year-old is valued at around €40m.
