Al-Ittihad set to announce signing of Chelsea midfielder Kante on €100m salary

Al-Ittihad are preparing to announce the signing of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante with the midfielder set to sign a lucrative agreement with the Saudi Arabian side.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at Chelsea this summer and has been in negotiations over a move to the Middle East on a free transfer.

Kante is the latest high-profile star set to complete a move to The Saudi Pro League and will join up with former France team-mate Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the final documents are being signed before the signing of Kante is officially announced, after the midfielder completed medical tests in London last week.

The deal will see Kante sign a two-year contract with the option of a further season and earn around €100m per season when ‘image rights, commercial deals and creative portfolio’ are included.

Kante’s departure will bring an end to a decorated career in the Premier League, one which saw the midfielder win back-to-back league titles at Leicester and Chelsea.

The Frenchman was named as the PFA Player of the Year during Chelsea’s title success in 2016/17 and has also won the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

He is the latest name to have been attracted to an ambitious project as Saudi Pro League sides invest huge sums to attract big-name stars this summer.

Saudi Arabia are keen to grow their domestic league, following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr in January. The likes of Sergio Busquets, Sergio Ramos, Riyad Mahrez and Wilfried Zaha have also been linked with transfers to the division.
