Manchester United are ‘increasingly unlikely’ to make a bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, with the north Londoners reluctant to lose the forward.
Kane has been linked with an exit from Spurs this summer after the club finished eighth in the Premier League to miss out on European qualification. The 29-year-old has just a year to run on his current contract and United had hoped to capitalise on that situation.
However, Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs’ stance on Kane’s future means it is ‘increasingly unlikely’ that a formal bid will be made. Spurs do not want to sell the England captain this summer and would be reluctant to do business with a Premier League rival.
Kane scored 30 league goals last season despite a disappointing campaign for Spurs, who are preparing for a rebuild under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in Kane, though the former could turn to Kylian Mbappe after the forward confirmed he will not renew his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United are set to turn to alternative targets and have made initial contract with Atalanta over a deal for Rasmus Højland. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani are also under consideration at Old Trafford.
