Bayern enter race for in-demand midfielder Moises Caicedo

Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Moises Caicedo, with the German side prepared to challenge Premier League clubs for the in-demand Brighton midfielder.

Caicedo is at the centre of a transfer tussle between the Premier League’s leading clubs with Arsenal and Chelsea both interested in a deal after failed approaches to sign the 21-year-old in January.

Manchester United have also asked to be kept informed on the Ecuadorian’s situation and the trio could now face competition from the Bundesliga.

Football Insider are reporting that Bayern Munich are preparing an approach for Caicedo after accepting the club’s pursuit of Declan Rice is unlikely, with the West Ham captain nearing a move to Arsenal.

Caicedo is viewed as an alternative for Thomas Tuchel as the Bayern boss looks to bring in a more defensive-minded midfielder and is valued at around £80m, including add-ons, at the Amex Stadium.

The midfielder impressed as Brighton secured a top-six finish and Europa League qualification in the Premier League last season, offering dynamism and tenacity in Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield. He ranked second in the division for both tackles and interceptions during the 2022/23 campaign.
