Tottenham considering Conor Gallagher approach

Tottenham are considering a surprise move to sign Conor Gallagher from London rivals Chelsea.

Ange Postecoglou wants to reinforce his midfield after taking charge of the north Londoners and the former Celtic boss is understood to hold an interest in bringing Gallagher across the capital.

Gallagher has been linked with an exit from Chelsea after struggling for status at Stamford Bridge last season, with a host of Premier League clubs reportedly interested in a potential deal.

Newcastle, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Borussia Dortmund and Everton have all been linked with Gallagher and Football.London are reporting that Spurs could rival interest in the England midfielder. Postecoglou favours a three-man midfield with two forward-thinking options and Gallagher would add goal threat and dynamism to the side.

The 23-year-old made 18 league starts for Chelsea last season, having returned from a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace that saw the midfielder score eight league goals and earn the Eagles’ Player of the Year award in 2021/22.

He has earned six caps for England and will want to secure regular first-team football ahead of next summer’s European Championship.

Tottenham are also interested in James Maddison following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League. The Foxes value the England international, who has also been linked with Newcastle, at around £40m.
