Bayern eye move for Manchester City ace Walker

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is seemingly looking to bolster his defence this summer after what has been an inconsistent season for Die Roten, despite the club claiming their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.

Their 71 points was their lowest points tally since the 2010/11 season when they finished third behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, and they only won the title this time out thanks to Dortmund’s final day draw against FC Mainz.

The German champions are believed to have moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, and now, according to Fabrizio Romano writing in the Guardian, the club are interested in Man City treble winner, Kyle Walker.

Bayern are on the lookout for a new right-back after they decided not to take up the option to sign Joao Cancelo on a permanent basis, with the Portugal international set to return to Manchester City following a six-month loan spell.

Having been the first-choice right-back for both club and country for a number of years, Walker has seemingly slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad this season as Pep Guardiola has tweaked his preferred formation,

Walker started just half of Manchester City’s 60 fixtures this season, including only being used as a late substitute for their Champions League final triumph over Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, the report says that Manchester City are also keen on bolstering their defence with a move for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, and while the club have held talks with the Croatian defender, the Bundesliga outfit will only reportedly sell for ‘a huge fee’.
