Napoli have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Victor Osimhen, but would ‘consider’ a huge offer for the forward this summer.
Osimhen is a transfer target for some of Europe’s wealthiest clubs after a superb season at Napoli, with the forward having won the Capocannoniere award as Serie A’s leading scorer during the club’s drought-breaking Scudetto success.
The Nigerian scored 31 goals in all competitions last season to be named as Serie A’s Best Striker and has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Napoli have confirmed Rudi Garcia as their head coach after Luciano Spalletti decided to step down from the role and the club’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, provided an update on the future of Osimhen at the unveiling of the new manager.
De Laurentiis confirmed that Napoli had reached an agreement with the 24-year-old over an extension to his current contract, but admitted the club would consider the forward’s sale if Napoli received an offer too good to turn down.
“We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract,” De Laurentiis said.
“I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural.”
