PSG make Harry Kane their ‘top priority’ this summer

Paris Saint-Germain will make the signing of Harry Kane their ‘top priority’ this summer, following the news that Kylian Mbappe will not extend his contract at the club.

Mbappe has informed PSG that he has no plans to extend his current contract which expires next summer, a decision which means the Ligue 1 champions will look to sell the forward in the current transfer window.

PSG are not prepared to lose Mbappe as a free agent and will actively look to sell the 24-year-old this summer if his stance does not change. Luis Enrique is set to be named as the club’s new head coach and Le Parisien are reporting that Kane is PSG’s ‘top priority’ as a Mbappe replacement.

Kane has been linked with a number of Europe’s leading clubs after Tottenham missed out on European qualification. The England captain is set to enter the final 12 months of his deal in north London and has failed to win silverware in his career to date.

The 29-year-old scored 30 league goals for Spurs last season despite their lowest Premier League finish since 2008/09 and heads a shortlist of centre-forward options for PSG, who have also been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

PSG could offer Kane a route to major trophies having been crowned French champions in nine of the last 11 seasons. The club are preparing to rebuild this summer after a disappointing Champions League campaign in 2022/23, with Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos confirmed exits and Neymar also linked with leaving the Parc des Princes.
