Arsenal and Jurrien Timber near ‘full agreement’ on personal terms

Arsenal are nearing a full agreement with Jurrien Timber over personal terms ahead of a second formal bid for the Ajax defender.

Arsenal saw an opening offer of £30m turned down for Timber last week and are preparing a second approach for the Netherlands international.

The Gunners have been in discussions with the 22-year-old over personal terms and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a ‘full agreement’ is close between the north Londoners and Timber’s representatives.

Timber is keen on the move to Arsenal and negotiations will continue between the two clubs in the coming days. Ajax are thought to value the centre-back at around £50m, but Arsenal are hopeful of reaching a compromise.

Timber was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer and has made 121 appearances since progressing from the Ajax academy. He primarily operates at centre-back, but has also featured at full-back on occasion and has represented the Netherlands 15 times since his debut in 2021.

The defender has won two Dutch titles with the club and was named as the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Eredivisie Talent of the Year during Ajax’s 2021/22 title-winning campaign.
