Manchester United will make a third bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, with the west Londoners now ‘flexible’ on the final fee.
Erik ten Hag’s side have had two bids turned down for the England international, the second of which was worth £45m with a further £5m in add-ons.
Chelsea had wanted a fee of £70m for Mount, but are now understood to be ‘flexible’ on the fee with the 24-year-old out of contract next summer and having shown no intention of signing a new deal.
Manchester United have already agreed personal terms with Mount, who is keen on the move to Old Trafford after contract talks at Chelsea broke down.
The Red Devils are set to return with a third proposal and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a figure of £60m-£65m should be enough to finalise the deal.
Mount could become Manchester United’s first signing of the summer as the club prepare to return to the Champions League next season, with the club also interested in bringing in a centre-forward.
The midfielder looks set to form part of a clear-out at Chelsea, with N’Golo Kante having agreed a move to Al-Ittihad and Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic closing in on moves to Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. Chelsea also have a number of players – including Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech – in negotiations over moves to The Saudi Pro League.
