Manchester United have found a ‘middle ground’ with Chelsea in negotiations for Mason Mount with an agreement edging closer.
Erik ten Hag’s side have seen two offers turned down for the England international with the two clubs having been apart in their valuation of Mount, who has just 12 months to run on his contract at Chelsea.
United’s second offer is understood to have been worth £50m inclusive of add-ons, below Chelsea’s initial valuation of around £70m. The Mirror are reporting that the two sides have now found a ‘middle ground’ in negotiations and Mount is ‘closing in’ on a £60m move to Old Trafford.
Mount’s arrival will be a significant boost to Ten Hag and his recruitment team as the Red Devils prepare to return to the Champions League next season.
The Dutchman is understood to have been left frustrated with the situation involving United’s takeover process, which has impacted the club’s transfer business so far this summer.
Ten Hag is reported to want at least three new additions, targeting a midfielder, forward and goalkeeper, and Mount had been made a priority target for the former role.
