Manchester United are set to submit a third and ‘final’ bid for Mason Mount as the club look to reach an agreement for the Chelsea midfielder.
United have seen two offers turned down for Mount, with the latest having been worth around £50m including add-ons.
Mount has just 12 months to run on his current contract at Chelsea and has shown no indication that he is willing to sign a new deal, with the England international understood to be keen on the move to Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Manchester United will return with a third bid in excess of £55m, in what will be the Red Devils ‘final’ proposal to sign Mount. Chelsea run the risk of losing Mount as a free agent next summer if a sale is not agreed and there is an expectation that an agreement will be reached.
United are keen for a ‘quick resolution’ to the deal and have already agreed personal terms with Mount. Erik ten Hag is keen to bring in the midfielder as his first signing of the summer transfer window, before the Red Devils target a new goalkeeper and centre-forward.
The club are understood to have held talks with the representatives of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana this week. The Cameroon international is viewed as a replacement for David de Gea, whose future is uncertain with his contract set to expire on June 30.
