Arsenal have submitted a £105m club-record bid to sign Declan Rice as the Gunners look to beat Manchester City to the signing of the West Ham captain.
Arsenal have seen two offers turned down for Rice but have returned with an improved proposal that would make the midfielder the most expensive British footballer of all time.
The Athletic are reporting that the bid is worth a guaranteed £100m with a further £5m in potential add-ons as the north Londoners look to secure their top transfer target for the summer.
West Ham are yet to make a decision on the proposal and are waiting for a response from Manchester City – who saw an offer rejected this week – as discussions continue with Arsenal over the structure of a potential deal. However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal are now ‘very confident’ that their latest offer will be accepted.
Rice has become the most in-demand player of the Premier League transfer window after captaining West Ham to Europa Conference League success last season.
The 24-year-old has expressed his desire to compete on the Champions League stage and has attracted interest from the Premier League’s leading clubs for his consistent performances at the London Stadium.
The England midfielder led the Premier League for ball recoveries and interceptions last season and has won 43 caps for the Three Lions at international level.
