Bayern prepare second £80 million bid for Harry Kane

Bayern Munich are preparing to submit an improved bid of £80m for Tottenham forward Harry Kane.

Tottenham turned down an opening offer from the Bundesliga champions last week, with the north Londoners insisting that Kane is not for sale. The first proposal was worth £60.2m for the forward and Bayern are now prepared to test Spurs’ resolve with an increased offer.

Kane has just a year to run on his contract at Spurs and the club face losing their all-time record goalscorer on a free transfer next summer if an extension is not agreed.

Bayern are hoping to capitalise on that situation and The Sun are reporting that the Germans want Kane to push for an exit.

Manchester United had also been interested in signing the 29-year-old this summer, but accepted a deal would be difficult due to Daniel Levy’s reluctance to do business with a Premier League rival.

Kane is understood to have agreed personal terms with Bayern and is keen on the move, having failed to win major silverware in his career to date. Bayern have been crowned Bundesliga champions in 11 consecutive campaigns and will be among the favourites for Champions League success next season.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are rebuilding after a disappointing European exit last term and view Kane as the ideal option to replace the goalscoring void left by Robert Lewandowski’s sale to Barcelona last summer.

Bayern are also in discussions to sign Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae and have confirmed the free transfer arrivals of Raphaël Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund and Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig.
