Liverpool are in ongoing talks with the agent of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, but have cooled the club’s interest in Nice’s Khephren Thuram.
Lavia is a transfer target for several of the Premier League’s leading clubs with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all linked with the Southampton teenager.
The 19-year-old impressed last season despite Southampton’s relegation to the Championship and made his senior debut for Belgium in March.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool have been in contact with Lavia’s representatives for the last two weeks ahead of a potential deal and the Belgian is ‘high on the list’ for the Reds’ recruitment team.
Southampton are understood to value Lavia at around £50m, just a year after purchasing the midfielder from Manchester City for a fee of £12m.

Liverpool’s firm interest in Lavia comes with the Reds ‘increasingly unlikely’ to sign Khephren Thuram from Nice.
This Is Anfield is reporting that Liverpool held talks with Thuram’s representatives earlier in the summer, but have decided against pursuing a move for the 22-year-old after the €70m arrival of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
