Mauricio Pochettino wants his Chelsea side to play like ‘animals’ and bring ‘good times’ back to Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino has been named as Chelsea’s new head coach and has been tasked with rebuilding the side after a disappointing Premier League campaign.
Chelsea – who sacked both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season – missed out on European qualification after finishing 12th in the table, the club’s lowest league finish since 1994/95.
Pochettino returns to the Premier League after previous spells at Southampton and Tottenham and has outlined his demands from his new side, after beginning work at the club’s Cobham training ground this week.
The Argentine has called on his team to compete like ‘animals’ as Chelsea look to bring success back to the club.
“The objective is to win because football is about winning,” Pochettino told chelseafc.com.
“We will have good times, create good relationships, have a nice environment and relationship with people, but the most important thing in the end is to win.
“If you win, it helps develop all the other things. Football is about results, how you achieve that is different because we are people that care about the way we achieve the results.
“But in the end, we want to win, be competitive, be animals that want to compete every week and in every game. But we need to translate before on the training ground and to train in this way.”
