Inter to make ‘approach’ to re-sign Lukaku

Inter Milan are set to make an approach to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter after returning to the club for a second spell, following a disappointing debut campaign at Chelsea.

The Belgium international recovered from a difficult start to score 14 goals in all competitions last season and Inter are keen to re-sign the forward ahead of the new campaign.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Champions League finalists will open talks with Chelsea over another loan deal for Lukaku, though the proposal will include a mandatory option to sign the 30-year-old at the end of the campaign.

Lukaku signed for Chelsea in a then-club record £97.5m deal after scoring 64 goals in 95 games across his first spell at Inter Milan.

He struggled to make an impact in west London however, and was allowed to leave on loan to rejoin the Italians last summer after just one season at Stamford Bridge.

Inter are ready to press ahead with plans to re-sign Lukaku after reaching a verbal agreement with Sassuolo over a deal to sign midfielder Davide Frattesi.
