Manchester United are set to increase their offer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana with an improved bid of €52m.
Onana is the club’s leading transfer target as Erik ten Hag looks to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, following an impressive debut campaign at Inter Milan.
The Cameroon international starred as Inter reached the Champions League final, leading the competition for clean sheets, prevented goals, saves and high claims.
Ten Hag worked with Onana at former club Ajax and is keen on a reunion with the 27-year-old in the Premier League, with the goalkeeper recognised as one of Europe’s best with the ball at his feet.
Sky Sports are reporting that United will submit an offer of €52m (£44.3m) in the coming days, as the Red Devils look to secure their second signing of the summer after the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
United’s interest in Onana comes after a breakdown in talks with David de Gea over a new contract. The Spaniard is now a free agent after his contract expired on July 1, having failed to agree terms on an extension. United had offered the 32-year-old a new deal on significantly reduced terms.
