Manchester United agree €55m Onana deal

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan for a fee worth €55m.

United have reached an agreement with Inter for the transfer of the Cameroon goalkeeper and the Red Devils will pay an initial €51m (£43.9m) to bring the 27-year-old to the Premier League, with a further €5m (£4.2m) dependent in add-ons.

The Athletic are reporting that an official announcement will be made once the finer details of the deal are finalised, but terms have been agreed with both Onana and Inter Milan.

A decision will now be made on where Onana undergoes his medical with the Red Devils, who are due to fly out for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States from Scotland on Wednesday, after facing Lyon in a friendly in Edinburgh.

Onana’s arrival will be Manchester United’s second major signing of the summer after the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea, with the shot-stopper having been made the first-choice replacement for the departed David de Gea. Erik ten Hag previously worked with Onana at Ajax and had been keen to reunite with the goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The deal will also allow Dean Henderson to complete a permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest, having spent last season on loan at the City Ground. United have been linked with a move to sign Japanese youngster Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds as a replacement for the England goalkeeper.
