Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojland, as talks continue over a fee.
Erik ten Hag is focused on the signing of a centre-forward after strengthening his squad with the signing of Mason Mount and the impending arrival of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, with Hojland the leading transfer target for the Red Devils recruitment team.
The Athletic are reporting that Hojland has informed Atalanta that he wants to leave the club for the Premier League and has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United.
However, a gap remains in the two club’s valuation of the 20-year-old with Atalanta demanding a fee of €80m (£69m) including add-ons for Hojland. Interested clubs are hopeful of negotiating a lower fee with Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring the forward’s situation.
Hojland has emerged as a target for leading clubs after an impressive breakthrough season for club and country. He scored 10 goals in all competitions for Atalanta last season and has made an immediate impact at international level, with six goals in six caps for Denmark.
United are considering alternatives should a deal for Hojland not be reached, with the club also in discussions over a potential move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.
Sales are expected before United can finalise the arrival of a third major summer signing, with the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire among those who could depart to raise funds.
