Atalanta boss names Hojland valuation amid Man United links

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini hopes his side can demand a fee up to €100m for Rasmus Hojland this summer and has called the forward ‘among the best’ emerging players in Europe.

Manchester United are chasing a deal to sign the 20-year-old and are understood to be preparing an offer for Hojland, while Paris Saint-Germain are also considering an approach.

Hojland impressed during his debut season at Atalanta to score 10 goals in all competitions, while the Denmark international has made an immediate impact with the national team after scoring six goals in his first six appearances, including a hat-trick against Finland on his first start.

Manchester United are believed to be readying an offer in the region of €60m (£51.8m), but Gasperini is hopeful Atalanta can retain the services of the striker for another season.

The Italian believes Hojland should command a huge fee should he be sold, hailing the Dane as arguably the best young forward in Europe.

On whether Hojlund should spend another season with Atalanta, Gasperini said, as per Fabrizio Romano: “I think so, then after that it’s difficult here too.

“He undoubtedly has great talent, but also great room for improvement. These things are visible in both senses, he must work to improve because he has the characteristics to become one of the strongest strikers in the world.

“I don’t know if he’s leaving, the market is unpredictable.

“I hope for the club they €80, 90, 100 million. The market value changes.

“But among the young emerging players in his role, if not the best, he is among the best in Europe.”
