Tottenham have identified Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher as midfield targets, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg attracting interest from Atletico Madrid.
Ange Postecoglou is discussing potential replacements for Hojbjerg who is in talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential move to Spain, with Spurs prepared to sell the midfielder for the right place.
According to the Daily Mail, Postecoglou is targeting two Premier League options to add to his midfield with Aston Villa’s Luiz and Chelsea’s Gallagher top of his wish-list.
Postecoglou is understood to be an admirer of Gallagher and is considering a move to bring the England international across the capital. The Australian believes the 23-year-old’s ‘energetic approach’ would suit his tactical demands and Gallagher could be open to the move after struggling to establish himself at Chelsea last season.
West Ham have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, who Chelsea value in excess of £40m. The west Londoners could be reluctant to lose Gallagher however, given the exits of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from their midfield options this summer.
Douglas Luiz is also a transfer target for Spurs after an excellent season at Aston Villa. The Brazil international came close to a transfer to Arsenal last summer, before signing a new deal with the club and impressing as Unai Emery’s side secured Europa Conference League qualification.
Luis was named as the Supporter’s Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season at Villa’s end of season awards and the club would be reluctant to lose the influential midfielder. Arsenal have again been credited with interest in the 25-year-old this summer.
