Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Manchester United are ‘working 24/7’ in order to sign a striker this summer.
Manchester United were the lowest scorers among the Premier League’s top six last season, netting just 58 goals in their 38 league games, with Marcus Rashford the top scorer with 17.
Anthony Martial spent a large portion of the season on the treatment table, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit last November was covered by the loan signing of Wout Weghorst who was only able to net two goals for the club.
United have made an opening offer for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, while they are also said to be interested in Randal Kolo Muani as an alternative as they look to add a number nine to their ranks ahead of the new season.
Speaking after their 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night, Erik ten Hag confirmed that the club are working to sign a new striker.
“Absolutely [the game shows why we are in the market for a new forward],” he said following the game in Houston, Texas. “It’s always difficult to say. We are working 24/7.
“We do and everyone, well not everyone, but a lot in the club, and we give all the power to get this done.
“We never talk about players under contract with another club, so we have our targets in the background. We are busy with it to get the right player to sign a contract for us.”
Next up for United is a game against Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.
