Chelsea have added Leeds United’s Tyler Adams to their shortlist of transfer targets this summer as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add depth to his midfield options.
Chelsea’s options in midfield have been depleted following a number of exits this summer, with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek having all departed Stamford Bridge.
The west Londoners remain focused on a deal to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, but have so far failed to reach an agreement with the Seagulls who value the 21-year-old at around £100m.
According to the Times, Chelsea have placed Leeds midfielder Adams on their shortlist of options to improve midfield depth, with the USA international understood to have a relegation release clause in his contract at Elland Road.
The 24-year-old impressed last season before a hamstring injury curtailed his campaign in March. He is currently recovering from surgery and is not expected to be fit for the start of the new season.
Chelsea’s shortlist also includes Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia – who has been subject of two bids from Liverpool – and Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga.
The Blues have completed the signing of midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Rennes, though the teenager is expected to spend the season on loan at Strasbourg.
