Jean-Clair Todibo ‘top target’ for Manchester United

Jean-Clair Todibo is a ‘top target’ for Manchester United as the club look to sign a new centre-back before the transfer deadline.

Todibo has attracted interest from a number of leading clubs this summer after an excellent season at Nice and Manchester United have placed the Frenchman at the top of their list as the Red Devils look to add defensive depth.

Erik ten Hag’s side are focused on outgoings at present with discussions over the sale of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay to West Ham, with a joint-bid worth around £60m having been turned down. Negotiations, however, are expected to continue.

Fred is also set to leave on a permanent deal and Donny van de Beek is closing in on a loan move to Real Sociedad.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the outgoings will free room and funds for further signings, with Todibo and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat high on the club’s list of priorities.

Todibo – who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Newcastle this summer – spent time at Barcelona as a teenager before signing for Nice on a permanent basis in 2021.

The 23-year-old has made 86 appearances in all competitions across the last two seasons and earned a first call-up to the France national side in March.
