Thomas Tuchel is considering a reunion with Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga as Bayern Munich look to sign a new goalkeeper.
Bayern are keen to bring in a new goalkeeper to provide competition and cover for Manuel Neuer and have placed Kepa on the club’s shortlist of candidates for the role.
The Spaniard has underwhelmed since signing for Chelsea in a world-record £71.6 million deal from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 and has spent much of the last three seasons as an understudy before regaining his first-team place last season.
Kepa will face increased competition for the number one shirt from compatriot Robert Sanchez this season and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel – formerly of Chelsea – is reportedly interested in a deal to sign the 28-year-old.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the German champions will make contact with Chelsea in the coming days to discuss the terms of a potential deal.
Kepa is one of several names on Bayern’s shortlist, alongside Ajax goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli and Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou.
The Bundesliga side are looking for a replacement for Yann Sommer, who has joined Inter Milan in search of a more regular role.
