Arsenal have been linked with an ambitious move to sign Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan, with the Gunners prepared to offer players in exchange for the midfielder.
Arsenal have made a statement with their summer business to date after spending more than £200m on new additions to reinforce the squad, including the £105m club-record arrival of Declan Rice from West Ham.
Mikel Arteta’s side are preparing to return to the Champions League this season and the north Londoners are continuing to look at potential signings. Reports from Italy are suggesting that Arsenal could launch a move to sign Barella and are prepared to offer two players in part-exchange.
Calciomercato are reporting that Arsenal will offer Folarin Balogun and Takehiro Tomiyasu as part of a deal to sign Barella, with Inter having already had an offer for the former rejected this summer.
The Italian side remain interested in signing the centre-forward following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko this summer and could be open to a potential exchange deal.
Tomiyasu is also reportedly on offer after a difficult second season at Arsenal. The Japan international – who previously played in Serie A with Bologna – made just five Premier League starts due to injuries and Ben White’s move to right-back.
The 24-year-old is now facing increased competition for a first-team place after the recent arrivals of Jakub Kiwior and Jurrien Timber.
