Five sales Manchester United could still make following Harry Maguire deal

Manchester United are nearing the sale of Harry Maguire to West Ham but the club have not completed their business in the transfer window just yet.

The Red Devils have acquired their main targets this summer, signing Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund for an outlay of £170 million.

They will have recouped around £50m after selling Maguire, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga, but are hoping to raise more funds by selling some fringe players.

Here are some of the deals that Manchester United could hope to get done before transfer deadline day.

Transfers Man United can still make in the summer window:

Dean Henderson

The signing of Andre Onana signalled the end of Dean Henderson’s hopes of being the No 1 goalkeeper at Man United. Nottingham Forest took the shot stopper on loan last season, although he missed the latter half of the campaign through injury. The East Midlands outfit are reportedly still interested in signing him despite agreeing to buy Matt Turner from Arsenal this week.

Fred

The much derided midfielder has been linked with a move to Galatasaray or Fulham. The Brazilian was seen talking to Marco Silva after the final game of last season at Old Trafford, but it appears that a move to Turkey is on the cards.

Fenerbahçe have now entered the race and rivalled their Istanbul neighbours with an official bid, worth €15m including add-ons.

Three names on centre-back shortlist for Manchester United

Donny van de Beek

The Dutchman has made just six league starts since joining the Red Devils in 2020, a statistic that is as unsurprising as it is remarkable.

Van de Beek’s time at Old Trafford has been marked by injury and poor form, but will surely come to an end this summer. Basque club Real Sociedad have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old.

Jean-Clair Todibo ‘top target’ for Manchester United

Scott McTominay

Yes, this is looking like the summer that the McFred midfield partnership is broken up. It’s probably been a long time coming, with United finally sorting out their midfield over the last year.

David Moyes is keen to bring McTominay to West Ham, but United are hoping to get a bigger chunk of the Declan Rice money than the Hammers are willing to hand over. This one could rumble on until deadline day.

Eric Bailly

The centre-back, who last played for Man United in 2021, has not been training with the first team and looks set to end his seven-year stint at the club. Fulham have been linked with the Ivorian, as have clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
