Ange Postecoglou has hailed Harry Kane as ‘one of the greats’ at Tottenham as the forward prepares to leave the club for Bayern Munich.
Kane is close to finalising a move to Bayern Munich for a fee in excess of €100m, with Spurs having accepted a bid from the Bundesliga champions after the 30-year-old entered the final season of his contract.
Kane has failed to win team silverware in his career to date, but will depart as Tottenham and England’s all-time record goalscorer.
The forward has scored 280 goals in 435 appearances since coming through the academy system at Spurs and Postecoglou insists Kane remains an all-time great in north London despite his decision to move on in search of silverware.
“It’s best Harry speaks for himself in terms of the decision but he’s one of the greats of this football club and that doesn’t change,” Postecoglou said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League fixture with Brentford this weekend.
“His record stands for itself. His place with the supporters stands for itself.
“I’m only new in the building, I’m not a spokesperson for the club but Kane’s reputation will always be there.”
