Chelsea are considering a move to bring Kasper Schmeichel back to the Premier League as the club consider replacements for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa is set to complete a loan move to Real Madrid with the Spanish giants having moved to sign the 28-year-old following Thibaut Courtois’ ACL injury.
Chelsea have agreed to let Kepa leave on loan with no obligation to make the move permanent, having signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton in a £25m deal.
The west Londoners are keen to add an experienced goalkeeper to their ranks however, and the Guardian are reporting that Schmeichel is a transfer target for the Blues.
The Denmark international signed for Nice last summer and made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last season.
Chelsea view Schmeichel as an ideal option to compete alongside Sanchez for the club’s number one position, with the 36-year-old boasting a wealth of Premier League experience having spent 11 seasons at Leicester City before his move to France.
Nottingham Forest have also been linked with signing the Danish shot-stopper this summer.
