Pavard ‘pushing’ for Manchester United move

Benjamin Pavard is ‘pushing’ for a move to Manchester United with the defender keen to quit Bayern Munich for the Premier League.

Pavard has entered the final season of his contract at Bayern Munich and is open to a departure in search of a new challenge, having turned down the option of an extension to his deal in Germany.

A number of leading clubs are monitoring his situation with Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United linked, with the former understood to be frontrunners in the race to sign the France international.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Pavard is ‘pushing’ with Bayern to secure a move to Old Trafford, with the 27-year-old viewed as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

United have agreed a deal to sell Maguire to West Ham for a fee of £30m, while Fred’s move to Turkish side Fenerbahce has also freed up further funds for defensive reinforcements.

Pavard – who can feature in central defence or at right-back – has won four consecutive Bundesliga titles since signing for Bayern Munich from Stuttgart in 2019.

He has also lifted the Champions League with the German giants and won the World Cup with France in 2018.
