Fulham are interested in a deal to sign Folarin Balogun from Arsenal as a potential replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Mitrovic is keen to leave Fulham amid interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who have returned with an improved offer of around £46m for the forward after an opening bid was rejected.
Mitrovic has made clear his desire to leave west London for the Middle East and Fulham are considering potential replacements, with Balogun top of their list.
The 22-year-old has returned to Arsenal after an impressive loan spell at Reims in France, where the forward scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season.
Balogun is expected to leave in search of a regular first-team role and has been subject of rejected bids from AS Monaco and Inter Milan. The Evening Standard are reporting that Fulham could look to reinvest a wind-fall from Mitrovic’s sale in Balogun, though Arsenal value the USA international at around £50m.
Fulham will ‘try to reduce that fee significantly’ in search of a new centre-forward, with Marco Silva keen to add Balogun to his options alongside recent recruit Raul Jimenez.
Mitrovic has scored 111 goals in five-and-a-half seasons at Craven Cottage, including 14 in the Premier League last season as Fulham secured a top-half finish.
