Bayern Munich are keen to retain the services of Ryan Gravenberch despite interest in the midfielder from the Premier League.
Gravenberch has been linked with leaving Bayern Munich after a difficult debut campaign with the club last season, with the 21-year-old starting just three games and featuring for just 561 minutes in the Bundesliga after arriving from Ajax.
Manchester United and Liverpool are understood to have made enquiries into the Dutchman’s availability this summer, with the Premier League sides having contracted Bayern to discuss a deal last week.
Both clubs have asked to be kept informed on his situation ahead of the transfer deadline on September 1, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Bayern are ‘insisting’ to keep Gravenberch as part of their squad for the coming campaign.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag previously worked with Gravenberch at Ajax, with the midfielder named as the Eredivisie Talent of the Year during the club’s title-winning success under Ten Hag in 2020/21.
Meanwhile, Liverpool remain in the market for a midfielder despite the arrival of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart last week.
Gravenberch is viewed as an ideal option given he would count as an U21 player for squad registration and not take up a non-homegrown spot. The Reds currently have just one non-homegrown place remaining in their squad under Premier League rules.
