Sofyan Amrabat ‘training alone’ amid transfer speculation

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is training alone amid speculation linking him with a move away from the club this summer.

Amrabat is a reported transfer target for several sides in search of midfield additions before the deadline, with Manchester United and Liverpool both linked with signing the Morocco international.

Erik ten Hag previously worked with Amrabat at FC Utrecht and is keen to reunite with the midfielder in the Premier League, but the club’s failure to sell the likes of Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay has prevented Manchester United from firming up their interest.

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also considered approaches for the 27-year-old, who has entered the final 12 months of his deal in Florence and is valued in the region of €30m.

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano has now confirmed that Amrabat is training alone as speculation continues to surround a transfer and revealed that the Moroccan has not travelled as part of the squad to face Rapid Wien in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

“Amrabat is training on his own, he won’t travel with us for the next game,” Italiano said, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Italiano also addressed the future of Nico Gonzalez, who has been subject of a club-record bid from Brentford. The 45-year-old said Fiorentina have no plans to sell the Argentina international, despite an offer in the region of £34m from the west London side.
