Rasmus Hojland remains out for Manchester United but is nearing a first-team debut, Erik ten Hag has confirmed.
Hojland signed for the Red Devils from Atalanta for a fee in the region of £72m earlier this summer, but has been unable to debut for his new side as he recovers from a back problem.
The Denmark international remains sidelined for this weekend’s clash with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, but is closing in on a maiden appearance after returning to first-team training.
“Not for tomorrow,” Ten Hag told his pre-match press conference.
“He is near. Today, for the first time, he came into team training so next week I expect him to do a full week. He is very near to making the squad.”
United have been dealt a double injury blow this week with the news that both Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are facing spells out, but Ten Hag believes he has the ‘solutions’ to injury absences within his current squad.
“Injuries are always disappointing but we can deal with it,” Ten Hag said.
“[Mason Mount and Luke Shaw] will be absent for some period. Luke will be longer than Mason.” Tyrell Malacia will take a few weeks, we have the solutions in our squad. Definitely.”
