Jose Mourinho has suggested that Roma could make a move for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku before the transfer deadline.
Lukaku is keen to leave Chelsea and is currently training with the club’s u-21 side, away from Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad in west London.
The Belgium international spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and has been pushing for a permanent exit this summer, with Juventus, Roma and Saudi Pro League sides all interested in a deal before the deadline.
Roma are closing in on the capture of Iran international Serdar Azmoun from Bayer Leverkusen, but Mourinho has revealed the arrival of the forward will not be the club’s last business of the window.
“Lukaku deal? The club told me that we will sign one more striker after Serdar Azmoun and that makes me happy,” Mourinho said, as per Fabrizio Romano.
“It’s difficult for me to comment on Azmoun as he hasn’t signed yet, imagine on Lukaku who is a Chelsea player.”
Mourinho signed Lukaku during his time in charge at Manchester United and is understood to be keen on a reunion with the 30-year-old. Chelsea are believed to be open to a loan exit in the final stages of the transfer window, having initially sought a permanent sale.
