Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed his stance that Mohamed Salah is not for sale and insists Liverpool have received no offers for the forward from the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Ittihad are understood to be interested in a deal to sign Salah, as the Saudi champions look to bring in the Egypt international in a big-money deal.
Liverpool have insisted that Salah is not for sale despite reports of a potential bid in excess of £150m, while Klopp has confirmed that no offers, to his knowledge, have arrived for the 31-year-old.
“The position remains the same. Absolutely no doubt about that. That’s how it is. Nothing else to say,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa.
Asked if an offer had arrived for Salah, Klopp added: “Not as far as I know but that doesn’t mean a lot to be honest.”
Klopp has been vocal in his desire for the Saudi Pro League transfer window to align with Europe, with Premier League clubs at risk of losing players, without being able to sign replacements, given the later deadline for Saudi sides.
“I don’t know how long it will stay like this but I think the next 2 weeks will show how much of a challenge it is. Because no-one can react anymore [if they lose players]. We have to protect the game. I love all my players who went to Saudi.
“But the league is not that it distracts me from my watching habits. We need to ensure the European leagues stay as strong as they are. Maybe we can change some rules or laws slightly? We’re all surprised by the activity of Saudi Arabia. It feels more a threat than not.”
