Chalobah expected to leave Chelsea in January

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window, despite rejecting a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest.

Chalobah was subject of a late bid from Forest in the final hours of the transfer window, but turned down the approach from Steve Cooper’s side in hope of a move to Bayern Munich.

Bayern had expressed interest in signing the defender, though failed to find an agreement with the west Londoners. Thomas Tuchel handed Chalobah his Chelsea debut and had been keen on a reunion with the academy graduate in Germany.

Nottingham Forest were also interested and did agree a £25m fee with Chelsea to sign the 24-year-old, but Chalobah rejected the chance to move to the City Ground.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chalobah will fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans in the coming weeks, though the defender is expected to leave Stamford Bridge when the winter window opens in the new year.

The Evening Standard state that Bayern could renew their interest with a loan approach in January, while Conor Gallagher, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen could also leave the club, having failed to agree summer exits.
