Conor Gallagher is ‘battling to convince’ new manager Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea and could leave the club during the January transfer window.
Gallagher has featured in all five of Chelsea’s fixtures in all competitions so far this season, but the England midfielder continues to be linked with an exit after the Blues’ recruitment in midfield during the summer.
Chelsea spent close to £200m on new arrivals Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu, each of who are set to provide strong competition for midfield places at Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher has been linked with leaving Chelsea amid the new additions and Spurs made an approach to sign the 24-year-old during the summer window.
The Evening Standard are reporting that Gallagher is one of several players ‘battling to convince’ Pochettino that they can be a part of his plans, alongside Marc Cucurella, who saw a loan move to Manchester United break down, and Ian Maatsen, who rejected a permanent move to Burnley.
Gallagher is unlikely to be short of offers should Chelsea make the midfielder available, with Everton having also seen a bid rejected in January.
West Ham, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also said to have considered moves to sign the academy graduate.
