Noni Madueke insists Chelsea can be ‘right up there’ and challenge for major silverware this season.
Chelsea have had a mixed start to the Premier League campaign under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, with the west Londoners having won just one of their first four fixtures of the season.
The Blues are looking to rebuild from a disappointing 12th-place finish last season, the club’s lowest in the Premier League since the 1993/94 campaign.
Chelsea have spent more than £1 billion on new players across the last three transfer windows and Madueke believes there is more than enough talent at Stamford Bridge to return to the top end of the table.
The England u-21 international has said Chelsea would be doing themselves ‘a disservice’ if the Blues were not targeting trophies this season.
“It’s not just about recruiting talented players. It’s about making a winning team, and that is the next step we have to take this season,” Madueke told the club’s official website.
“Silverware is so important to Chelsea and that is the direction we have to head in for sure.
“If you look at the squad we have, the depth, we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we thought we couldn’t be right up there.”
