Guardiola explains where new signing Nunes can improve

Pep Guardiola has explained where new Manchester City signing Matheus Nunes can improve, ahead of the midfielder’s potential debut for the club.

Nunes completed a £53m move to the Premier League champions on transfer deadline day and could make his first appearance for the club at West Ham this weekend.

Guardiola has been a long-term admirer of the Portugal international, who had a mixed first season at Wolves before his move to the Etihad.

The Spaniard has opened up on what he expects from Nunes this season and where the 25-year-old can improve his game.

“He can play holding midfielder or attacking midfielder and even at full-back,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference.

“He has to improve with his first touch, it’s not good enough yet. His energy is good and he played he last games with Wolves as a winger. He has so many qualities.

“He can dribble well and with time he’ll learn how to be more precise with his first touch. He will get it.”
