Neto tells Wolves teammates ‘to grow up’ after letting lead slip against Liverpool

Wolves attacker Pedro Neto has urged his teammates “to grow up” after they failed to hold onto a elad against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Portuguese wide forward provided the assist as Hwang Hee-chan put the hosts ahead in the seventh minute. The Midlands outfit managed to hold onto the lead going into halftime, but Liverpool turned things around in the second half to win 3-1.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Neto said: “We have to be more aggressive, against these teams we cannot concede easily. It was a tough one.

“The first half we dominate the game and we come out with zero points. We have to continue to work and we have to grow up.

“In the second half we didn’t have the chance to arrive to their goal, we didn’t do what we did in the first half or control the ball. It’s tough after that first half to concede three goals, it’s really hard.”

Liverpool were a changed outfit in the second half as Jurgen Klopp’s changes had the desired effect. Cody Gakpo equalised in the 56th minute, before Andy Robertson put them ahead. Harvey Elliott saw his shot diverted into the goal by Hugo bueno in injury time to put the game beyond doubt.

Neto could at least take some positives from the game, as it was his fourth Premier League start in a row after dealing with injury problems over the past few seasons.

“It’s really good,” he said. “I feel like I’m getting better but I’m sad because what matters is the team and the points.”
