Mauricio Pochettino insists Mykhailo Mudryk is ‘improving’ despite another ineffective performance from the winger during Chelsea’s goalless draw at Bournemouth.
Mudryk has struggled to make an impact since signing for Chelsea in an £88m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk during the January transfer window, with the Ukraine international having failed to score in 19 league appearances for the Blues.
Mudryk made his first start of the Premier League campaign at Bournemouth, but failed to get into the game and appeared short of confidence before being substituted just after the hour.
Pochettino was asked for his view on Mudryk’s difficult adaptation to English football and said the 23-year-old needs time to ‘learn in the Premier League’.
“He is improving. He still needs to learn in the Premier League, it’s very fast, Pochettino said to Sky Sports.
“He needs to understand the game better, try to be more connected sometimes with the team. We need to give the time and tools for him to improve during the season.”
